Read this lede from Sky News (London): “A dog has managed to survive despite being bound and shot in the head 40 times before being buried alive. ”
And this line, from Time NewsFeed: “A stray dog in Malta proved that she had the heart of a champion, when police officers discovered her buried in sand up to her face, her legs and snout bound, and suffering from pellet gun shot wounds to the head.”
The Time NewsFeed story also tells us: “Under the current law, those convicted of animal cruelty could face a one-year maximum term in prison.”
That’s not good enough for me.
The New York Daily News has a poll on its website that asks: “What do you think the punishment should be for animal cruelty?”
Those taking the poll can choose from the following answers:
“The abuser should receive a fine.”
“The abuser should serve time in jail.”
“The abuser should receive the same cruel treatment that the animal received.”
“I’m not sure, it depends on the condition of the animal.”
As I write this, nearly 70 percent of respondents agreed that “the abuser should receive the same cruel treatment that the animal received.”
That’s still not good enough for me.
Look at the photos of Star (as she was named by those who rescued her) on the Sky News website.
Now, tell me, loyal readers: Who wants some vigilante justice in Malta?

I vote for another option to have the abusers tortured worse than what they did. Something cruel and unusual perhaps.
Indeed, Michael, cruelly tortured.
Thanks for your vote.

Did they find the person that did this to her?? Oh what a beautiful dog.
Jane,
Star passed away shortly after being rescued. As far as I know the perpetrator has not been caught or identified.

Cruelly tortured and then ‘cowardly dog abuser’ tattooed on their forehead is my vote.
Donna,
Would you like to be Punisher in Chief?
